Jeanine Payer Jewelry

Jeanine Payer began making jewelry in the late 1980's while studying sculpture and drawing at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. Payer's inspiration came first from her childhood love of dollhouses and the small hidden treasures inside. She gives each piece of her jewelry its very own hidden treasure by incorporating miniature antique photographs, small stones and pearls and the carefully chosen words of philosophers and poets, both famous and obscure. The artist hand engraves script so tiny that the words almost disappear inside the piece, creating an eloquent and emotionally resonant synthesis of form and the written word. Jeanine Payer's work is completely hand made in sterling silver, 18kt gold and platinum as well as precious and semi-precious stones. She draws creative inspiration from poets and writers such as Wordsworth, Aristotle, Coleridge, Rumi, Emerson, Rilke, Spinoza and Shakespeare.
